Yesterday I came back from Otakon convention in Warsaw. As usual I had a small stand together with with badges and small prints with our pictures. Sale was pretty ok but I spotted a few really depressing things.
First of all most of stands were just offering stuff with stolen pictures - not only official ones but also from DeviantArt, Pixiv(poor Japanese artist who post their pictures in high resolution), everything printed in low quality on badges, t-shirts, pillow covers etc The sellers were making really big money on it especially when they had low prices(for shitty quality prints), becouse people will buy cheap stuff anyway.
Second thing was a fact that me and Goku were only artists that were still trying to sell their art. It's not like we don't have talented manga-style artists in this country. There are really many of them - even here, on DA. Most of them used to go for conventions with their stands but ones with pictures downloaded from internet "killed" most of convention market - esp made everything hard for people with a small amout of designs who have to pay more for each print in the printing house.
On the other hand prices for convention stands got higher for everyone. In some rare ocassions there were small discounts for artists but usually it was connected with a very poor location.
Third, I still keep finding my own old art here and there all the time. Once I found my fanarts on badges from some stand, when I asked seller to hide it she said that they bought all their stuff in China and if she paid for it, it's hers.
I wish that we had a proper comic villages like on Western conventions that I visit from time to time. With "culture" like that it's impossible. If only people who buy stolen pictures think twice if it's really fair to the original artists that someone who doesn't have any rights makes money on their work.
Maybe then other local artists will be active on our conventions again. I seriously miss them

Help me, please!
Back from grave again! :)
This year together with a group of friends from Poland we are going for Polymanga convention in Switzerland!
Long story short becouse I'm always half dead on my social medias it's not easy to do good on the contest where popular voting counts. On Polymanga number of votes is connected with receiving a decent stand location so every vote counts! Some time ago I posted my submission:

If you like it and want to help me just click the link above and like this illustration.
Sorry for doing this, I always try to avoid baging for votes but without it it's really hard to do well, especially when my Facebook fanpage

First of all, thank you for all youtube channel recommendations on my previous journal. I had a very busy two weeks so I couldn't reply on each comment.
It looks like after a few years of thinking about I'm finally going for Polymanga convention in Switzerland. I'm going to share my stand with a dear friend, `len-yan (https://www.deviantart.com/len-yan) and bunch of other Polish artists. So if you are also coming, please look for as somewhere in the artist village :)
btw this year art contest theme is tricky! I changed my concept a few times and now I really hope to be able to finnish a decent illustration before deadline... I wonder if other artists also struggling ;P
Youtube channel recommendations!
I'm looking for some new content to listen during work. I thought that it would be a nice idea to have a little address exchange.
I have a big range of stuff I like to watch - scary stories, art, fandoms, comedy, cooking, game development are especially welcome :)
Soo what are you watch/listen during work that you could recommend me? Monday is coming ;P

I guess the best solution would be keeping reporting those people (but aren't the staff of the convention supposed to verify the merchandise before authorizing the artists to sell? Or are those conventions really small ones?)
